Dr. Williams's research led her to a topic that has received growing attention in recent years: PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
These synthetic chemicals have been used in a wide range of consumer products, including some types of nonstick cookware. They are valued for their resistance to water, grease, and stains. Because many PFAS compounds break down extremely slowly, they are often referred to as "forever chemicals."
โI started reviewing publicly available research and reports,โ says Dr. Williams. โAgain and again, I came across studies from universities, health agencies, and scientific organizations examining the presence of PFAS in the environment and in human populations.โ
Scientists around the world have been studying PFAS for decades. Ongoing research continues to explore how long-term exposure to certain PFAS compounds may affect various aspects of human health.
As awareness of PFAS has grown, many consumers have begun taking a closer look at the materials used in everyday productsโincluding the cookware they use in their kitchens.
That search for alternatives eventually led Dr. Williams to discover cookware made without traditional nonstick coatings, including the TitanPure Pro skillet.
โPeople are becoming more informed about the products they bring into their homes,โ she says. โThey're looking for cookware that's durable, high-performing, and made from materials they feel comfortable using every day.โ
